The 28 degrees temps for the last few nights zapped most of the open blossoms but these are just getting ready to blossom. It's the State Flower for South Carolina and all parts are extremely poisonous. So don't eat it or you'll end up doing the State Dance, the Shag, right before you wretch your guts out! In a week or so it will the brightest harbinger of Spring in the woods along with the Red Maple blossoms.
